Your labor is not in vain...1Cor. 15:58b

All persons, not just Catholics, can know from the scientific and medical evidence that what grows in a mother's womb is a new, distinct human being. All persons can understand that each human being--without discrimination--merits respect. At the very least, respecting human life excludes the deliberate and direct destruction of life--and that is exactly what abortion is.
Catholics are also pro-life because our Christian tradition is pro-life. As Pope John Paul II said, Christians believe that "all human life is sacred, for it is created in the image and likeness of God." Aborting an unborn child destroys a unique creation which God has called specially into existence.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith in it's Declaration on Procured Abortion [1974; paragraphs 11-12] states:
"The first right of the human person is his life...It does not belong to society, nor does it belong to public authority in any form to recognize this right for some and not for others; all discrimination is evil...
"Any discrimination based on the various stages of life is no more justified than any other discrimination...In reality, respect for human life is called for from the time that the process of generation begins. From the time that the ovum is fertilized, a life is begun which is neither that of the father nor of the mother; it is rather the life of a new human being with his own growth" --and dignity.
Since its beginnings, Christianity has maintained a firm and clear teaching on the sacredness of human life. Abortion was rejected in the earliest known Christian manual of discipline, the Didache.
Early Church fathers likewise condemned abortion as the killing of innocent human life. A third century Father of the Church, Tertullian, called it "accelerated homicide." Early Church councils considered it one of the most serious crimes. Even during periods when Aristotle's theory of "delayed ensoulment" led Church law to assign different penalties to earlier and later abortions, abortion at any stage was still considered a grave evil.
When biologists in the 19th century learned more about the process of conception, the Church altered its legal distinction between early and late abortions out of respect for reason and biology.
Since that time, science has only further confirmed the humanity of the child growing in the womb. Official Church teaching insists, to the present day, that a just society protects life before as well as after birth.

"You shall not murder a child by abortion, nor kill it after birth."
Letter of St. Barnabas, 2nd century AD.
Prayer: Lord, bless all those who will march this year for life, and the many more who labor for life in their own communities every day.

Fear of the Lord...
Awesome God
"'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts!' they cried one to the other. 'All the earth is filled with His glory!' At the sound of that cry, the frame of the door shook and the house was filled with smoke." --Isaiah, 6:3-4
The fear of the Lord is of supreme importance since it is the beginning of wisdom and possibly the beginning of most of the other gifts of the Spirit (Is. 11:3). The fear of the Lord is an awe in God's presence. It means being in the throne room of God with all the angels and saints. It is sometimes called "piety." It is the last and most important of the gifts listed in Isaiah 11. We should receive this gift first, because we receive the other spiritual gifts most bountifully when we have this awareness of God's awesome presence and person. The fear of the Lord permeates all the spiritual gifts, not only preceding the reception of gifts but also deepening as the spiritual gifts are exercised. After Pentecost, "a reverent fear overtook them all, for many wonders and signs were performed by the apostles" (Acts, 2:43). The early church made "steady progress in the fear of the Lord" (Acts, 9:31). This is one of the few gifts that will last forever.
Prayer: Triune God, may I want to be in Your presence even more than I want to breathe...amen.
Promise: "Study the generations long past and understand; has anyone hoped in the Lord and been disappointed? Has anyone persevered in His fear and been forsaken?"
--Sirach, 2:10

Sister Anna Ali....mystic

Sister Anna Ali was born December 29, 1966 in Kenya, Africa to a devout Catholic mother and devout Muslim father. She was baptized in 1979--after having been raised in the Muslim faith. Her parents marriage ended due to the contentions over religion. Anna has had apparitions of Jesus that have been approved by her Bishop and focused on the Holy Mass and Christ present--Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity--in the Holy Eucharist.
From the writings in the Book of Daniel [12:4-13], through the recent apparitions and locutions from the Mother of God to humble, simple children, priests and sisters we are told of the chastisements and times of tribulation...culminating with the abolishing of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for a period of nearly three years. When will this come? Only the Father knows...but we are being warned to return to God, His commandments, and to make reparation for the immense darkness of sin.
Society and culture view the objective moral law as repugnant--at best. As Satan, the great deceiver--'the liar and murderer of souls'--seems to be gaining in strength, the Holy Mother of God calls us to the safety of her Immaculate Heart. And Jesus, in His love for us, continues to warn us through His Mother and selected holy souls who live among us. One of these is Sister Anna Ali....contemplate what Jesus has said to her...
DIVINE APPEAL 23rd September, 1987
"The devil is making every effort to abolish the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass."
"My daughter, I want you to listen to Me. Pray a great deal for humanity; the world is growing from bad to worse. The devil is making every effort to abolish the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Divine Justice is prepared to act with My eyes fixed on Heaven."
"It will be terribly frightful as if it were the end of the world. But the end has not yet arrived. My daughter, after so many messages with painful events, they remain indifferent as if it were an idle call. I want My Voice full of affliction to fly to the very ends of the earth, saying over and over again: 'Be attentive...... the time to settle accounts has arrived! Blessed are those who listen to My Voice."
"I bless you."

Finally, from La Salette through Akita and Medjugorje, and Fr. Stefano Gobbi's reception of messages from the Mother of God (1973-97, MMP) there is a consistency in these messages that we are truly living the 'end times.' Yet, not to despair-- for though we will endure much suffering Christ is coming for us! Have faith, live in hope...and make acts of reparation to 'lessen the chastisements.'

Ark of the New Covenant...
Rubbio, Italy July 30, 1986
"These are the painful years of the trial. This has already been foretold to you by me, in many ways and with many signs.
But who believes me? Who listens to me? Who truly pledges himself to change his life? I am caught between two swords, which pierce my motherly Heart. On the one hand I see the great danger into which you are running, because of the chastisement which is already at the doors, and on the other I see your inability to believe and to accept the invitations to conversion, which I am giving you, so that you may flee from it.
And so I turn again to you, my beloved ones and children consecrated to me, and I invite you to climb above the world, above your daily preoccupations, above your disordinate attachments to creatures and to yourselves, above mediocrity and tepidity, above an ever widening aridity.
Enter into the refuge which your heavenly Mother has prepared for you, for your salvation and that you may be able to pass in safety, in my Immaculate Heart, the terrible days of the great tempest which is already at hand.
This is the moment for all to take refuge in me, because I am the Ark of the New Covenant.
At the time of Noah, immediately before the flood, those whom the Lord had destined to survive His terrible chastisement entered into the ark. In these your times, I am inviting all my beloved children to enter into the Ark of the New Covenant which I have built in my Immaculate Heart for you, that they may be assisted by me to carry the bloody burden of the great trial, which precedes the coming of the day of the Lord.
Do not look anywhere else. There is happening today what happened in the days of the flood, and no one is giving a thought as to what is awaiting them. Everyone is much occupied in thinking only of themselves, of their own earthly interests, of pleasures and of satisfying in every sort of way, their own disordinate passions.
Even in the Church, how few are there who concern themselves with my motherly and most sorrowful admonitions!
You at least, my beloved ones, must listen to me and follow me. And then, through you, I will be able to call everyone to enter as quickly as possible into the Ark of the New Covenant and of salvation, which my Immaculate Heart has prepared for you, in view of these times of chastisement.
Here you will be in peace, and you will be able to become signs of my peace and of my motherly consolation for all my poor children."
--To The Priests--Our Lady's Beloved Sons, MMP (2009); Interior locutions to Fr. Stefano Gobbi, MMP (1973-97). #328, pp.468-69
